Day 8: Insanity (Pure Cardio)

Another day completed! To be quite honest with you, I really didn’t feel like working out today. I had a headache earlier and had been running around almost all day. By the time I got home, I wanted to take a nap but since I didn’t blog at the Miss Jia blog, I decided to stay up and do at least three posts.

Nonetheless, I posted on Twitter that I went to put on my rings last night and they literally slid off my hand. I assumed that since my PMS came and went that the ‘water weight’ I get during that time was the culprit (for them being tighter). Well after my workout today, I decided to get naked and hop on the scale. It said that I lost 6.5 lbs! I thought…wait, lemme try this again. Got off, got back on…same thing. I couldn’t believe it. That’s a LOT of weight to lose in a week. Honestly, I think that most of it is either water weight OR if it is such a loss, it’s b/c I’m probably not eating as much as I SHOULD in a day. I have been drinking so much damn water that by the time it IS time for me to get my grub on, I am damn near full! But Insanity is a very intense program. Extremely intense. To any of you who played sports during your school years, I’m sure that your coach put you through drills that left you panting for air before you were even midway through. Well, Insanity does the same thing PLUS kicks it up two notches. Shaun T. doesn’t play and I’m excited about tomorrow’s workout.

My goal is to be a size 7. I really don’t give a shit how much weight I lose b/c the # has never been a ‘thing’ for me. I only have a scale in my house NOW because I started some new birth control a while back and wanted to keep track of any weight gain. Thankfully there wasn’t any (but I also stopped b/c I heard about the damn blood clots and heffas dying just to keep the babies away. Not a fair trade if you ask me). Anyway, I’m determined to be a size 7. Anything smaller than that wouldn’t look right on me b/c I have a big head…and fat cheeks that don’t go away no matter how much I work out.

People have been asking me if you could do Insanity if you are not use to working out. Quite frankly, you can do whatever you want to do. I just think that if you aren’t use to some level of activity in your life, you’ll probably injure yourself on this program. Shaun T. emphasizes speed and agility with these work outs. You have to do a LOT of quick movements and again, if you’re not USE to working out, you will fuck something up…thus meaning you’d have to quit anyway. If you’re looking for something to do UNTIL you get use to working out, I suggest Slim in 6. I will warn you…Debbie Siebers is boring as hell. I literally want to slap her ass with a bag of “personality” and a side of “damn-be-charismatic-please” but…the workout works. Now, I did that before and made it through the whole 6 weeks. I didn’t weigh myself at the time but I do remember that overall, I lost like 20 inches. Not bad. Anyway I recommend trying that before shelling out a whopping $160 for Insanity. It’d be shitty to get it and not be able to use it to the best of your ability. But again, it’s up to you!

Day 9 tomorrow and I can’t wait to go INSANE!!

    Get it girl! So inspiring! I too am getting my fitness on at the gym, but was looking for something to do at home as well. I saw the infomercial for Insanity, and I know for sure I am not at that level of fitness yet. My family would be coming to my memorial service off that one. But I will try the Slim in 6. Fitness is where it’s at, let’s GO!

    Jia! I’m proud of you. Good job. I’m glad you gave this advice. I’m going to start with Slim in 6. A lady I work with tore her ACL last week trying to do jumping jacks, and that scared me to death. Lawd.

    I was in sooo much pain going to class today. I walked around campus looking like someone put it on me but little did they know..it was Shaun T and that damn Fit test. My thighs hurt soo bad. I could barely walk up the stairs or sit my ass in a desk lol. But it got better as I worked my muscles again during the workout. My goal is 20 pounds..was 15 but gained 5 pounds when I got back to Atlanta last month..I blame Roswell Rd for having every restaurant known to man on it lol.

    I saw the download link but I’d prefer to buy it when I snag a job! But I’m glad you did this post because I’m not use to strenuous workouts so maybe I’ll use this time to step my workout game up by jogging and fooling around with some weights! A size 7 you must be a shorty-dew-whop! LOL I’m 5′-7″ I think I’d be happy in a 9/10 (my origial size before I got married.ugh) I’m officially motivated. BUT I have to do my hair tonight so I can go get a trim. Then I’ll be ready for a ponytail and Nike’s
